My friend Deana Gunn just sent me her new cookbook “Cooking with all things Trader Joes”! She and her co-author Wona Miniati have written a fantastic cookbook with really beautiful images. I’m a bit biased here – she’s sort of my student. :)

I was thrilled when Deana asked me to help her out with the photography stuff. It was interesting to find that explaining how you do something that you’ve just been doing for years is a whole other set of skills. I found myself searching for words to describe things that I just intrinsically knew – it was very frustrating. But Deana is a quick study and VERY talented artistically, so she didn’t really need that much help.

I’m very honored to say that Deana included me in the “Thank You Notes” at the beginning of the book. :)

If there is one thing that will get me to buy a cookbook it’s pictures – I need to know how its supposed to look when I’m done! In fact, if a cookbook doesn’t have photographs, I won’t even consider it. Deana and Wona have done a fantastic job of capturing their delicious recipes, every page looks yummy!
