Hi Brad!
I did enjoy watching you guys do your podcast (<a href="http://theguyspodcast.com/" target="blank" rel="nofollow">http://theguyspodcast.com</a>)! Looks like you guys have fun doing it too!

Great set of questions, I wish I had considered #1 a little more carefully. That has been one of the most difficult parts of the transition, not only because the OS works differently, but because the shortcuts you know on the PC have different key combinations on the MAC. It's been a particular pain in the butt with the Adobe programs, it has slowed my work flow. :(

ps. Why would you want Front Row if you have Preview?

Hey Christina,

Great job ruling out a PC or Mac. I'm a tech guy at a school and get the question: "what computer should I get? Mac or PC?" all the time. Faculty and students believe I will give the default answer, "Get a mac!" since I am a Mac user (and love my experience with the Mac). But I don't. This would be doing them a great disservice. I usually give them a list of questions. Here they are:

1) Is now a good time for you to learn a new Operating System? The basics of OS X are the same as Windows, yet the specifics are different.

2) Do you have software that will not work with the other OS? How expensive is it? Is it time to upgrade that software? Is there a version of that software to run on the new OS you may be moving to?

3)What are you planning to do with the new computer? Will one computer do the task better than the other?

Usually these three points get the person to really think about the purchase. It isn't about the shiny new Apple, or Dell, or Sony. It is about what you want to do and what will help accomplish those tasks the best. You got it! ;-)

Glad you enjoyed our first live podcast. Hope to see you again!

p.s. My Mac Pro didn't come with a remote or even Front Row. :-P
